  • Compensation:
    $10 to $11 per hour for Election Day and training.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: Training typically lasts one hour. Training is normally completed in-person but online options may be available. Chief election inspectors are required to take 6 hours of training every 2 years.

In most cases, poll workers must be qualified electors of the county in which they serve (i.e., adult U.S. citizens who reside in the county and are not otherwise disqualified to vote).

16 and 17-year-old student poll workers can only work at the polling place serving their residence.
