Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Somerset County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: Training typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Training is required for all workers when the county has new voting equipment. Otherwise, training requirements vary by role. Training is required for judges of elections, inspectors of elections, and machine inspectors. Counties may have additional training requirements of their own, and they have the authority to call election officials for additional training whenever it is deemed necessary.
