Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Buncombe County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person training typically lasts 3.5 hours.

Individuals who are comfortable using computers and tablets are strongly encouraged to apply.

Working during Early Voting requires a minimum commitment of 17 days, Monday through Saturday, in shifts plus mandatory training. Working on Election Day is a one-day commitment with mandatory training and a site visit. Please note that these Early Voting details may have changed due to the impact of Hurricane Helene.
