  • Compensation:
    $17 per hour, for the first 8 hours worked. Time and a half is paid if a worker works more than 8 hours. Workers are also paid mileage reimbursement at $0.65 per mile.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Johnson County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: A combination of in-person and online training may be required. Training typically lasts 2 to 3 hours. At least two poll workers from each precinct must attend training prior to primary and general elections. Preference for training must be given to poll workers who have never attended a training session before. Contact your county auditor for more information.

Poll workers must provide their own transportation on Election Day.

Individuals who are comfortable using computers and tablets are strongly encouraged to apply.

Individuals who speak English and one of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Spanish, French.
