Voter Registration Requirements

  • Poll workers over the age of 18 must either be registered voters in California or be lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the U.S. and otherwise eligible to register to vote except for their lack of U.S. citizenship.

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old students who are U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted for U.S. permanent residence.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: Basic training lasts for approximately 3 hours.

Ventura County follows a Vote Center model in which Vote Centers are open for several days prior to Election Day. The county hires individuals who work for several days at Vote Centers, including Election Day, as well as workers who only work on Election Day.

Individuals who are comfortable using computers and tablets are strongly encouraged to apply.

Individuals who speak English and one of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Vietnamese.
