$10 to $12 per hour.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: New poll workers must attend an in-person training session which lasts 3 hours. All poll workers attend an in-person one hour training prior to each election. Additional online training is encouraged for all poll workers. Chief election inspectors are required to take 6 hours of training every 2 years.

Additional Information

In most cases, poll workers must be qualified electors of the county in which they serve (i.e., adult U.S. citizens who reside in the county and are not otherwise disqualified to vote).

16 and 17-year-old student poll workers can only work at the polling place serving their residence.
