Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person and online training are available. Training typically last 1 to 2 hours. Chief election inspectors must do 6 hours of training every 2 years.

In most cases, poll workers must be qualified electors of the county in which they serve (i.e., adult U.S. citizens who reside in the county and are not otherwise disqualified to vote).

16 and 17-year-old student poll workers can only work at the polling place serving their residence.

Poll workers are also needed to work during Early Voting. Contact your election office for details.
