Compensation:
$11 to $11.50 per hour for Election Day. $10 flat rate per training session. Poll workers who work at nursing homes receive an additional $15 per location.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person training typically lasts one hour. New workers are required to attend an additional training. Chief election inspectors are required to take 6 hours of training every 2 years.

Additional Information

In most cases, poll workers must be qualified electors of the county in which they serve (i.e., adult U.S. citizens who reside in the county and are not otherwise disqualified to vote).

16 and 17-year-old student poll workers can only work at the polling place serving their residence.
