Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Durham County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: Training is required prior to each election. Most training requirements can be completed entirely online and lasts approximately 4 hours. Additional in-person training may be required for certain positions.

Poll workers may be required to attend a pre-election meeting and precinct set up prior to Election Day. It typically lasts one hour.
