Compensation:
$150 to $170 plus mileage reimbursement for workers traveling more than 5 miles to their polling place. An additional $10 if workers use their own cell phone for elections business.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Wapello County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person training typically lasts 2 hours. At least two poll workers from each precinct must attend training prior to primary and general elections. Preference for training must be given to poll workers who have never attended a training session before. Contact your county auditor for more information.
