    $175 to $250 for Election Day. Additional $50 for picking up and returning supplies. Early Voting workers are compensated at an hourly rate based on position.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Gaston County to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 17-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens and county residents.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person training typically lasts 2 to 3 hours. Poll workers will attend 1 to 3 classes depending on their position and experience. Early Voting training typically lasts one hour.

Poll workers are required to help set up the precinct the night before Election Day. Set up typically lasts one hour.

Individuals who are comfortable using computers and tablets are strongly encouraged to apply.
