Poll Worker Start Time:
8:00 AM Vote Center days. 6:00 AM on Election Day.
Poll Worker End Time:
6:00 PM Vote Center days. 9:00 PM on Election Day. (You must work the full day)
Compensation:
$23.89 per hour for training and Vote Center work. $280 flat rate for workers who only work on Election Day.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • Poll workers over the age of 18 must either be registered voters in California or be lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the U.S. and otherwise eligible to register to vote except for their lack of U.S. citizenship.

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old students who are U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted for U.S. permanent residence.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: Training varies based on the position. Please contact election officials for more information.

Additional Information

Several positions require fluency in Burmese, Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog/Filipino. Please indicate in your application if you are fluent in any of these languages.
