You must be registered to vote in Alaska to be a poll worker
Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.
Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens
Training Details: New and returning poll workers are encouraged to participate in training prior to working as part of the Division of Elections’ comprehensive training plan. Training typically lasts 4 to 5 hours. Training is held in even-numbered years prior to Alaska’s primary election in August and the general election in November. In some areas of Alaska, poll worker training must be conducted in-person (Toyukak v. Treadwell).
Bilingual English-Yup’ik speakers are encouraged to apply. Bilingual poll workers are needed to provide language assistance to voters in local Native languages throughout communities in Alaska. For more information, click here and select the “Bilingual Assistance Workers” tab.
