$20 to $20.50 per hour for Election Day and training.

Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Alaska to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 16-year-old high school students who are U.S. citizens

  • Training Details: New and returning poll workers are encouraged to participate in training prior to working as part of the Division of Elections’ comprehensive training plan. Training is held in even-numbered years prior to Alaska’s primary election in August and the general election in November. In some areas of Alaska, poll worker training must be conducted in-person (Toyukak v. Treadwell).

Additional Information

Bilingual individuals who speak English and one of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Yup’ik, Filipino, Aleut, Inupiat. Bilingual poll workers are needed to provide language assistance to voters in local Native languages throughout communities in Alaska.
