Voter Registration Requirements

  • You must be registered to vote in Virginia to be a poll worker

  • Note: This voter registration requirement does not apply to poll workers under the age of 18.

Work Requirements

  • Minimum Age: High school students interested in getting involved should contact their local election officials for information.

  • You must complete training to be a poll worker.

  • Training Details: In-person training typically lasts 2 to 6 hours, depending on experience. Poll workers are certified for three year terms. Training is required at least once per three year term and will be updated upon the institution of new voting laws.
